Gary Conachan III,

Transition! What a year of transition it has been for both of us.

I'm so thankful I have someone I can bounce my fears, doubts, and victories off of, knowing full well you understand what I'm going through. We've been forced to build resilience this year, whether we liked it or not.

Your friendship has meant so much to me the past 1.5 years. I'm so glad we get to live in the same city now, experience life with one another, and grow in our faith together. What a relief it is to know that I'm not alone as I learn to reconcile my faith and my sexuality. And while I have no idea when the many questions in my mind will ease up, I'm grateful to have a friend that can genuinely look me in the eye and say 'me too'.

Thank you for setting an example of perseverance. You inspire.

Thank you for being a part of my Portland community. Building a new community is challenging but it has made me all the more grateful for the community I DO have.

Thank you for traveling the country with me. That's an experience I'll never forget.

Thank you for your vulnerability and for always listening so well.

Thank you for your friendship. Life is so much more joyful with you around.

Gary, you're so loved and appreciated, my friend.
