Kris Crews,

Graduating college generally means leaving quite a few people behind. It's not intentional (mmmm, wait, sometimes it is), but it's a natural part of leaving, moving on to new experiences, finding new friends. Sure, it's sad but it helps us embrace the future and not hold onto our past for too long.

Even so, there are the rare few that are gifted with intentionality. Nothing gets in the way of the way they care for their friends and family. They are perfectly consistent yet magically genuine.

Kris, you are one of the rare few, a master of intentionality and generosity.

Yesterday was one day after my birthday, so of course I was especially self-reflective. 'How can I make this year better than the last?', 'What are my goals for this coming year?', etc. As I started this year-long journey of writing and was reflecting on my 25th rotation around the sun, your name popped up on my phone. I knew that whatever I was about to read would make my day.

"Tym! You beautiful soul. How can I pray for you as we get ready to start another week?"

Simple, intentional, and brimming with kindness.

This is, of course, not the first time you've sent texts like this my way. You continually look for ways to support, encourage, and love me. Undoubtedly, there are many other beneficiaries of your lovely soul and warmhearted nature.

Unprompted and without expecting anything in return, you love so well. Do you realize how rare it is for someone to speak simply for the sake of loving others? To know that someone would desire to bring my struggles, fears, and worries before the God of the universe on my behalf is the realest kind of love from the truest kind of friend.

As I continue to reflect on what I desire for this coming year, I know one thing is for sure: I want to be more like Kris Crews.

Thank you for being consistent during a time in my life when I felt anything but stable.

Thank you for praying with me and always reminding me that at the end of the day, God loves me and fights for my prosperity.

Thank you for making me LAUGH.

Thank you for living a life of encouragement. You utilize every outlet at your disposal to propagate joy, hope, and life.

Thank you for fighting each and every day for good, regardless of your current circumstance.

Kris, I know you will see success in all things, whether in career, in relationships, or in personal ambition. "I know Kris Crews" is one of the greatest phrases I have the privilege of uttering.

Thank you for guiding me to gratitude.
