Yesterday I went to see a beautiful Christmas concert performed by a magnificent choir. It truly put me in the Christmas spirit.
I was delighted to find out that a middle school choir was performing before the intermission. Their little voices were so pitchy and breathy and perfectly musical. I loved it.
Mrs. Miller, outside of family, you were the first person that made me fall in LOVE with music. Middle school choir was one of the best experiences of my life. My little soprano voice finally found a place to shine. Your skills as a conductor and teacher defined my educational journey and continue to define my life to this day.
Thank you for believing in the power of music.
Thank you for your ability to rein in middle school voices and make something magical.
Thank you for letting the Willis Singers exist for one year.
Thank you for guiding me down a path that has made me a more cultured, appreciative, and spiritual person.
Thank you for introducing me to some of the greatest friends I will ever know.
I love you, Nancy Miller. Long live middle school music programs.
